i felt that the high resolution image just wasn't up to my standards. it can be really hard to get julias, especially like this one to not be grainy.

i could see what it would look like for the size you want. what were you looking at getting? :)

Once again an excellent flame. You have a very good control of the colouring and lighting on this piece. What else can I say but, another fav!

Ralph.

very well done! i like this one so much, that i have to :+fav: it ;)

By the way... i am learning a lot from 2B2H's tutorial for creations like this one, but i still have a lot of problem to get my own fractals as sharp and large as this one... what secret is there to that one? (i already render at 4500 quality, have gamma as low as possible (without loosing too much) and brightness as high as i dare (without ending up with a very bright center piece and the rest ok), and i try to use different weights for the different triangles (higher for the more outer ones, and lower for the more center ones (i mean... the triangles that create the center 'circles' get lower weights as the ones that make the outer 'circles'))... what more can i do?

This flame has 4 transforms: one for the main Julia shape, one for the centre sphere and two for the circular pattern around the sphere. another thing that is important with julias is to make sure that the parts different parts of the image don't overlap. ie don't use a transform in the centre that extends outward forever.

Stunning...just...gorgeous. Its like one of those beautiful riverbeds with smooth, gemlike stones and boulders. So much depth, and as always, perfect gradient work. I think this is my favoritest of your fractals, ever. (So far, of course! ;) )
